Monica Brown

Administrative Support

Monica began her career in early childhood education after completing her Preschool and Kindergarten Teacher training in Sweden in the mid-70s. She initially worked with young children but quickly advanced into leadership roles, eventually managing an entire municipality’s childcare and kindergarten organization.

In 1995, Monica moved to Canada for the second time, having previously lived there temporarily as a nanny. She adapted to new challenges, gaining valuable administrative experience in Public Health, a medical clinic, the Post Office, and a Recreation committee on Haida Gwaii. These diverse roles equipped her with skills that later proved invaluable when she became the Executive Director of a large childcare centre in Campbell River, a position she held for over 20 years.

After retiring, Monica started supporting Anew Rehab in an administrative role, she has also remained deeply connected to her passion for supporting families and children, working in a drop-in program for young families.

Monica balances her part-time roles with the cherished experience of being a “mormor”. With a wealth of knowledge and a love for community engagement, she continues to make a meaningful impact.
